Toyota 70 Series 2009+ Head Unit Installation

So you’ve bought the Head Unit Suitable for Toyota 70 Series 2009+ from Vhedia. Now, it’s time to change up your factory dash, DIY style!

Here is our head unit installation guide:

  1. Turn the engine off and remove the battery connection.
  2. Pop off the facia using the removal tools included in the kit.
  3. Unplug the hazard button and digital clock.
  4. Undo the four (4) screws using a 10mm. They’re located on the corners around the radio.
  5. Gently pull out the radio and unplug all electrical wiring behind it.
  6. Locate the wiring heads and attach the Quick Connector Adapter Cables from the kit.
  7. Swap the digital clock and hazard button from the old frame to new one.
  8. Install the three (3) cables for GPS, Camera, and USB. There should be labels to guide you here.
  9. Insert the 20-pin plug into the head unit. You can attach the battery, in the meantime, to test the head unit. For safety purposes, detach the battery again if you ready to continue the installation.
  10. Feed the rear and front camera cables down near the glove box.
  11. Push the new head unit into the dash. Start with the bottom and make sure you tuck the wires behind, out of the way of the head unit to avoid damage.
  12. Check if the head unit’s fit on the dash. It should be locked in there.
  13. Re-attach the battery and test out the unit.

Toyota 70 Series 2009+ Rearview Camera

To install the rearview camera on the Toyota 70 Series 2009+, you can follow these steps:

  1. Detach the battery and turn off the engine.
  2. Remove the rear door cover or doorcard.
  3. Unscrew the three (3) nuts for the rear door outside handle.
  4. Feed the wire throught the door and into the rear card near the lights.
  5. Connect power to the reverse light and earth to an earth.
  6. Drill a hole on the rear numberplate lights mounting panel.
  7. Mount the camera and check its fit.
  8. Tuck the wire from the dash into the trims and run it all the way to the back.
  9. Re-attach the battery and test the unit.

If you have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, then no need to worry. This head unit can run these apps.
